Campbell Deal Closer Than Mohsni - Ipswich Town News
TWTD understands that Town are hopeful of securing the loan signing of QPR striker DJ Campbell on loan on Friday and in time for Saturday’s live home Sky game against Cardiff City (KO 5.20pm). The deal to sign Southend centre-half Bilel Mohsni, who TWTD revealed had returned on trial earlier today, is further from completion, despite the Frenchman’s hopes that he would sign a three-month loan tomorrow.
As reported a week ago, Town wanted to sign 30-year-old Campbell ahead of the Barnsley game as cover for the injured Paul Taylor and then-sidelined Michael Chopra, but they were rebuffed with a switch to the much-travelled frontman’s former club Blackpool having been on the cards.
But with little progress on that deal, the Blues renewed their interest and the Hammersmith-born striker looks set to put pen to paper at Portman Road on Friday.
While Mohsni has said he is keen to join Town on a three-month loan, almost certainly with a view to a permanent switch in January, we understand that the clubs are yet to agree terms regarding the move and the Frenchman appears unlikely to be signed in time for Saturday.
