Captain Carlos Edwards admits the midweek draw at Brighton was a source of frustration to him and his colleagues, even though he concedes they would have gladly settled for a point beforehand.
Edwards said: "It was one of the better performances of the season thus far but I hope no one thinks we have cracked it in terms of seeing out games when we are under pressure away from home.
"Looking back, we have taken two points from two away games but if we had just dug a bit deeper it could have been six points. Football’s a funny game and we have to make sure we learn from the little things so that we can hopefully see out a game over the whole 90 or 95 minutes.
"I think the guys were a bit more patient and a bit more confident in the way that we played. Obviously, we know from playing against Brighton last season that they are a patient team who like to play from the back.
"Maybe it worked in our favour that the day before the manager did not show us a DVD of them playing!”
Edwards, whose superb cross set up Daryl Murphy to head Town’s first-half opener, added: "It was the sort of display that we always knew we were capable of.
"We are a better team when we counter-attack because we have players with pace and I think we just needed to have that little extra patience in the midfield to cause them a few problems.
"I think we did that and their fans started to get on the Brighton players’ backs when we took the lead. We just need to work that bit harder now to make sure we can keep the lead in games.
"It’s a learning process for everyone. To some extent we were disappointed that we did not see it out and win the game but we were also happy with the point we gained from an away game against a quality team.
"Before the kick-off we would have taken that and we have to look at it as a point gained rather than two lost.”
