Jewell: Loanee Situation Not Ideal - Ipswich Town News
Town boss Paul Jewell has admitted that the loan situation is not ideal but says he needs to bring in experienced players rather than “younger, hungry” signings until the Blues’ league position is more secure. The additions of Richie Wellens, DJ Campbell and Bilel Mohsni late last week took the total of loanees to seven.
Jewell told the club site: "Bringing in loans is not ideal, I know that, but it’s the situation we find ourselves in.
"We’re not flush with millions of pounds to just go out and spend on whoever we want.
"We keep talking about this being a long-term project, though I know that doesn’t wash with a lot people and I understand that.
"We’d like to go with younger, hungry players, but until we can get a foothold in this division and move forward to a stronger position, we have to go with experience.”
Meanwhile, Portman Road hasn't made the short-list of 2015 rugby World Cup venues, despite "an initial conversation" having taken place.
