Stewart on Injury - Ipswich Town News

Marcus Stewart says he will be back in training in ten days time after having an operation yesterday on his broken jaw. The Town striker was reportedly more upset at seeing yesterday's result than the pain he felt after his surgery.

Stewart said: "The doctor has told me I can train in about ten days. I can do running, shooting practice and weights and swimming, obviously I can't do any contact stuff, but I will get even fitter and sharper which is a good thing."

The Town striker said that Pablo Couñago, the player with whom Stewart clashed when he received the injury, had been to see him: "Pablo came to see me and was very upset, but it was just one of those things. We both made a wrong decision, I made the decision to head the ball, he decided to boot it instead."

Ulrich Le Pen joined Stewart on the sidelines after Sunday's game and will be checked out for any broken bones, he has already had stiches in his foot.

Town say they have no plans to bring in a replacement from another club at present, chairman David Sheepshanks saying: "We have limited funds available to add to the squad, but there is nothing in the pipeline at this time."

Loan target Hakan Sukur said at the weekend he did not want to join Town.
