Jewell Hopeful Higginbotham Will Stay - Ipswich Town News
Town boss Paul Jewell says he is hopeful that the Blues can extend defender Danny Higginbotham’s loan beyond its initial first month. As things stand, the 33-year-old’s spell is due to come to an end after Tuesday’s home game against Derby County.
Jewell told the club site: "We are hopeful that we will be able to keep Danny. He’s come here to play football and he’s doing that. He’s enjoying it here and I’ve told him we want him to stay.
"We’re in conversation with Stoke and we will see how things work out, but we are certainly hopeful that he will be remaining with us, ideally for the maximum three months.”
Higginbotham has made three starts and one sub appearance since joining the Blues towards the end of September.
Meanwhile, one of this morning's tabloids claims the Blues are keeping tabs on former midfielder Owen Garvan, who is out of contract at Crystal Palace at the end of the season.
The Eagles are reported to have opened talks with the 24-year-old regarding new terms. The Dubliner left Portman Road for Selhurst Park in the summer of 2010.
