Jewell Still Has Backing of Bosses - Ipswich Town News

Town boss Paul Jewell continues to have the backing of owner Marcus Evans and chief executive Simon Clegg, TWTD understands. The Blues manager, who said he would discuss his future with Evans after yesterday’s game at Hull City, is expected at his pre-match press conference tomorrow lunchtime ahead of Tuesday’s match against his former club Derby County at Portman Road.

Jewell, who was at Playford Road this morning to watch the 1-0 U21s victory over QPR, yesterday said he would consider his position with the Blues without a win in 10 games and in 23rd in the table.

"We have to look at the bigger picture for Ipswich and think ‘Am I the man to take them forward?’, he said.

"And if I decide when I speak to Marcus and one or two other people who are close to me that the best thing for Ipswich is not to be here, then I’ll do that.

"I don’t want to do that, I’ve got to be honest and I hope the answers I come up with are positive answers but I’ve got to be honest with myself and honest with Marcus and honest with people close to me.”

The answers he has received from those in charge at the club appear to have been those that he was looking for.
