Club Looking Into Players' Night Out - Ipswich Town News

Town are looking into sightings of five players out late on Wednesday night, hours after Paul Jewell’s Blues exit and prior to caretaker-boss Chris Hutchings’s first training session at Playford Road on Thursday morning.

Reports that the five - skipper Carlos Edwards, who was 34 on Wednesday, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Josh Carson, Michael Chopra and Paul Taylor — were out in Vodka Revolution appeared widely on social networking sites.

A club spokesman says the matter is being looked into, although no rules were broken: "We are aware that a number of our players were out late into the evening on Wednesday.

"Although they were not breaking any official club rules by being out, this has been brought to the attention of chief executive Simon Clegg and caretaker manager Chris Hutchings who are now dealing with it.”

Edwards had been withdrawn from Wednesday’s Supporters Club AGM as chief executive Clegg felt the players needed to be concentrating on footballing matters given the current situation.

Speaking at yesterday's pre-match press conference, Hutchings said he had told the players he would be taking a "no nonsense" approach during his time in charge.

Last week, captain Edwards said he felt former manager Jewell had been "too nice" during his latter days at the club.
