Striker Paul Taylor is jogging and is due to see a specialist in two weeks’ time as he continues his recovery from a cracked bone in his foot. The £1.5 million frontman hopes to avoid surgery on the injury he sustained in the game against Wolves in September, which was only his third match for the club.
Caretaker-boss Chris Hutchings said: "It was very unfortunate for him. It was a big transfer for us, he was a big player for us and I think he showed in the couple of games he played what a good player he is.
"It was a six to eight-week period of settling down with the use of orthotics [inserts] in his shoes. And then just doing a little bit of work, easing it off, stepping it up and just seeing how far he goes.
"He’s been jogging a little bit and that’s as far as it goes. I think in a couple of weeks he’ll be seeing a specialist and we’ll know a little bit more then.”
Meanwhile, former Sheffield Wednesday boss Gary Megson, who has been linked with the Town job and was mentioned in connection with the Blues when the position was last available 21 months ago, says he is looking for a return to management: "I do want to get back in work.
"I might not be the best dressed of the managers available and I might not talk the same bull**** as the managers who’re available, but I have got the best record in the Championship of all the managers who’re available.”
Ex-Canary Megson, who is hardly a fans' favourite at Portman Road despite an own goal winner in a derby in the mid-nineties, is understood to have been on gardening leave since being relieved of his duties at Hillsborough in March.
