Elliott Biking to Town for Sir Bobby - Ipswich Town News

Former Newcastle United full-back Robbie Elliott will be visiting Portman Road on Wednesday 7th November as part of Bike for Bobby, a charity cycle challenge in honour of Sir Bobby Robson, in which he will visit all the ex-Blues and Magpies boss’s clubs. Elliott, who is joined on the trek by his friend Phil Gray, a triathlon champion, is raising money for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

The duo have already taken in Sporting Lisbon, FC Porto and Barcelona and are currently in France and on their way to PSV Eindhoven, Wembley, Fulham, Town and will end their journey at Newcastle United on Sunday 11th November 2012, when the Magpies play West Ham United, having travelled 3,500 miles in 25 days.

Town fan Dean Harris will be working as part of the support team: "When I was asked to get involved I jumped at the chance — Robbie and Phil are putting their bodies on the line each day of the challenge for two fantastic charities, the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and Breakthrough Breast Cancer and it is also a wonderful tribute to the great man himself.

"Sir Bobby left his mark on every club he was at and obviously nowhere more so than at Ipswich — it would be fitting if the Ipswich fans can lead the way in donating to the cause in his honour!”

A documentary is being made about the trip, while a gala dinner will be held at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead on Sunday 25th November.
