Wilnis Hits Out at Rumour-Mongers - Ipswich Town News
Town full-back Fabian Wilnis has hit out at those spreading rumours about players' private lives. Stories have been circulating for several weeks now, but the Dutchman says there is nothing in it.
Writing on his www.wilnis.co.uk website the current TWTD cover star said: "There has been a lot of rumours flying around about team-mates sleeping with other players' wives, and that people have been arguing and fighting off the pitch, but I can say categorically that it's all bullshit."
He added that this is a time when the club should be pulling together: "I understand that rumours, gossip and backstabbing seem to be a problem when your team is struggling but it's not what we need. Now is the time when you need everyone pulling together and focusing on the important job of getting out of our current situation."
Wilnis was one of the players involved in the behind-closed-doors friendly with Crystal Palace on Monday which Town won 3-0. The Dutchman hopes he will be involved against Inter Milan on Thursday: "I'm looking forward to Thursday night, it will be a great night for everyone at the club, and hopefully I'll get my chance to play against Inter. I watched their league game with Roma at the weekend and they are a very good side. Even if Ronaldo and Vieri aren't travelling with the side to Portman Road they have so many good players that won't be a problem for them."
