Pearson Undecided on Wellens Loan Extension - Ipswich Town News
Leicester manager Nigel Pearson says he’s yet to make a decision on whether Richie Wellens will be allowed to extend his loan with the Blues when his current month is up after Saturday’s game against Burnley. The 32-year-old was sent to Portman Road primarily to get fit after suffering a knee injury at the end of last season.
Pearson says he’ll look at the situation next week: "We have to see where we are with that when that comes around.
"We have not got the biggest squad and the whole idea of Richie going out was for him to get some games. That was the most important thing in terms of the next step in his rehabilitation."
"It is important that we recognise that it has been a successful loan period, and I will look at that closer to the time. We will see how he is towards the end of next week."
Meanwhile, the Blues have again been linked with Oldham striker Jose Baxter, 20. The former Everton man was previously mentioned in connection with Town last month.
