Luongo's Loan Cut Short - Ipswich Town News

Town and Spurs have agreed to terminate midfielder Massimo Luongo's season-long loan with the Blues. The 20-year-old has been out of the first team picture at Portman Road in recent games with the Blues only able name five of their six domestic loanees in a matchday 18.

Boss Mick McCarthy said: "Massimo has gone back. He's a good footballer, but you'd expect that coming from Tottenham, but I need a different type of player.

"He's not been playing games and Tottenham said that if he's not playing football here, then they will take him back. We wish Mass well."

The Australian made eight starts and three sub appearances for the Blues, scoring once.

Meanwhile, Richie Wellens is set to play the final game of his loan spell against Burnley tomorrow with no agreement yet in place regarding an extension with the Blues facing his parent club Leicester next week, a match he wouldn't be able to play in.
