Strong Town Squad Facing Johnson's Walsham - Ipswich Town News

Town have named a strong reserves squad for Tuesday’s Suffolk Premier Cup first round tie against Walsham-le-Willows at their Summer Road ground (KO 7.45pm). The game will see the Blues come up against Gavin Johnson, a member of John Lyall’s 1991/92 Second Division title-winning side.

Michael Chopra, Andy Drury, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Elliott Hewitt, Scott Loach, Jason Scotland and Bilel Mohsni are in the 16 making the trip to West Suffolk.

Manager Mick McCarthy and his staff are also set to make the trip to run the rule over fringe players they have only seen in match action once - last week's U21 defeat to Swansea - since the change of management.

The winners of Tuesday’s much-delayed game will play Felixstowe and Walton United away in the quarter-final of the Premier Cup in the week commencing January 7th. Town have re-entered the tournament this year after a two-season absence.

Squad: Ainsley, Chopra, Drury, Ellington, Emmanuel-Thomas, Hewitt, Hyam, Lawrence, Lee-Barrett, Loach, Mohsni, Murray, October, Scotland, Thorsteinsson, Whight, Youga.
