McCarthy Could Add to Squad Before Deadline - Ipswich Town News

Boss Mick McCarthy isn’t ruling out adding to his squad before Thursday’s deadline for so-called emergency loans.

Speaking after Saturday’s 6-0 defeat to Leicester at the King Power Stadium, the Blues manager said: "Maybe, we’ll see.”

He was yet to speak to Leicester boss Nigel Pearson about Richie Wellens, who wasn’t in the Foxes 18 which trounced the Blues, returning to Portman Road for a second loan spell: "No, I haven’t because he was off the other day.

"I spoke to [assistant manager] Steve Walsh, who couldn’t give me a definitive answer. I need to speak to the boss and I’ll do that now.”

Town currently have the five domestic loans permitted in a matchday squad — DJ Campbell, Bilel Mohsni, Bradley Orr, Danny Higginbotham and Stephen Henderson — along with season-long loanees Daryl Murphy and Guirane N’Daw from clubs from overseas associations, Celtic and St Etienne respectively.

Meanwhile, McCarthy says he expects keeper Scott Loach, who missed the trip to Leicester due to the thigh injury he suffered at Walsham in the Suffolk Premier Cup, to be back in the squad for next week's home game against Peterborough.
