Striker Taylor Arrested - Ipswich Town News

Town striker Paul Taylor was arrested last night in relation to an incident at the Robert Ransome pub in the town centre a month ago. The former Peterborough man was subsequently released on police bail until January 16th.

Police said in a statement: "Two people have been arrested following an assault in an Ipswich town centre pub.

"The incident happened on Tuesday 16th October at approximately 12.15am within a pub in Tower Street.

"Two male members of staff within the premises were assaulted. One victim suffered a broken rib and the other a fractured eye socket and a broken finger.

"A 25-year-old man from Ipswich and a 24-year-old woman from Liverpool were both arrested on Tuesday 20th November on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and taken to the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre.

"The man and woman have been released on police bail pending further enquiries and will return to the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre on 16th January 2013.”

A Town spokesman said in a statement: "We are aware of an alleged incident that took place in the town recently involving one of our players that is currently being investigated by the police.

"We are in communication with the police authorities over this matter but will be making no further comment at this stage."

Taylor joined Town from Peterborough United for an initial £1.5 million in the summer, suffering a foot injury in only his third game which required surgery and is expected to keep him out of action for the rest of the season.
