Manager Mick McCarthy says picking up 10 points in six games has been the highlight of his first month in charge at Portman Road. The 53-year-old took over at the beginning of November and since then has achieved a record of won three, drawn one and lost two.
Asked what the highlight of his first month at the club had been, McCarthy was in no doubt: "Ten points. If we’d played well and only got three points, it wouldn’t make a blind bit of difference, so it’s the results that please me.
"And on the back of that there are other things that have pleased me, but the 10 points in six games is the most pleasing thing.”
He added: "When you come in you hope you win all the games, but it’s unlikely. What did I expect? I don’t know.
"If you'd looked at the games, did I expect to beat Birmingham away? I don’t know. Did I expect to draw with Peterborough? I would like to have won that, but overall 10 points from the games is a good return, there's no doubting that’s a good return from the games.”
