Cresswell Out to End Millwall's Unbeaten Run - Ipswich Town News

As well as looking to continue Ipswich’s improvement in form Aaron Cresswell is also focused on ending Millwall’s long unbeaten record.

The teams clash tomorrow for the first time this season and Cresswell admits the Lions’ amazing turnaround in form has impressed him.

After losing five of their first seven league games in the current campaign Kenny Jackett’s men have avoided defeat in their last 13, a run that has seen them gatecrash the play-off places.

Cresswell said: "They look a good, organised team, very hard to beat. But hopefully we can turn that round on Saturday. All the lads believe we are going to pick up the three points.

"That’s what comes from picking up a few results and improving our confidence. We’ve had some good results away from home and there’s no reason why we can’t win on Saturday at Portman Road.”

The former Tranmere left-back is also hopeful that Town have addressed the defensive issues that saw them lose 5-0 and 6-0 at Crystal Palace and Leicester respectively in an otherwise upbeat spell under new boss Mick McCarthy.

He added: "You’d like to think that’s gone now. We’ve got to put that behind us and keep looking forward to the next game and the next game after that.

"It’s always different when a new manager comes in. They’ve got different philosophies and different ways of playing the game. There’s been a lot of chopping and changing in the side since he’s taken over.

"We’ve got a steady back four now and we are looking to keep it tight at the back. We always work on our shape. TC [Terry Connor] and the gaffer will take the training and we’ll do certain stuff with the defence, midfield and the attackers.

"In the last few games I don’t think the gaffer has changed the back four much and we’ve had two good results. That’s nothing against the lads who haven’t been playing but we’re looking a good unit, with a good shape, at the minute.”
