Central defender Luke Chambers says he’s excited by summer signing Elliott Hewitt. The Wales U21 right-back underwent hip surgery towards the end of last season while with his former club Macclesfield and finally made his Blues debut as a sub in the 3-0 victory over Millwall before appearing from the bench again in last weekend’s loss at Leeds.
Chambers said: "Everyone is delighted for him getting his first appearance of the season and his debut for the club. He’s a tremendous lad and I think he’s got a great future ahead of him as well.
"It was a fantastic signing for the club — there was a lot of talk of bigger clubs than Ipswich being after him in the summer — but unfortunately he had the injury he had.
"He’s come back stronger, he looks to be one hell of an athlete and he’s an option to throw in there.
"You saw his attacking prowess late in the Millwall game and he’s one to be very positive about."
