Nick Pandolfi, the breakfast show presenter on Town 102, has been named an ambassador of the ITFC Charitable Trust. The charity, based at Portman Road, works with young people all over Suffolk.
Nichola Whymark, fundraising director of the charity which has to raise its £1 million running costs every year, says Pandolfi will fulfil a valuable role: "Nick is full of enthusiasm for what we do here at the Trust and he’s kindly offered to help wave the flag for us by attending events and talking about some of the ways we work with young people from all abilities both in Ipswich and all around the county.”
Woodbridge-born Pandolfi has been a Town fan since meeting a Blues legend when he was just six years old: "I came to Portman Road and met Paul Mariner, and he gave me a signed £1 note.
"When I interviewed Kevin Beattie many years later I told him the story and he said he was amazed - Mariner never gave anything away!”
He added: "I really get what the Trust is trying to do here. I was lucky I was a child actor so my career path wasn’t a particularly difficult one, however that’s not the case for many young people in Suffolk, especially for those who struggle with their mental and physical abilities. "If I can help them to fund raise by talking with those who’ve had their lives changed by the Trust and use my profile to help raise theirs, then I’m delighted to take on the role as their ambassador.” For more details of the many ways the Trust is helping to support the local community in Suffolk visit their website www.itfccharitabletrust.org.uk.
