Bent 2 Praises Town - Ipswich Town News

New Town signing Marcus Bent has praised Town's crowd after Thursday's win against Inter Milan. New coach Bryan Hamilton has also tipped Bent to be a success at Portman Road.

Bent said: "The supporters were excellent, they really got behind the team and pushed them all the way. I was very impressed."

He added that he doesn't expect to be an immediate first choice: "You don't go to a side expecting to play every week, but I'm prepared to fight for my place."

Bent sees this as his chance to make it at the top level: "I have played in the First Division, and lower leagues - now I want to play in the Premiership and prove myself."

New first team coach Bryan Hamilton thinks he has what it takes: "I feel that Marcus has the potential to develop as one of the finest strikers in the Premiership. A proven goalscorer, he is also quick, excellent in the air and has a strong physical presence."

Bent says there was no falling out leading to his move from Blackburn.
