Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake has dismissed suggestions that he might be reunited with his former boss Mick McCarthy at Portman Road during the January transfer window. The 26-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has repeatedly been linked with the Blues, along with his team-mates Ronald Zubar and Richard Stearman.
Ebanks-Blake told the Birmingham Mail: "I suppose because I worked with Mick McCarthy here, someone was bound to link me with Ipswich. And I was with Ian Holloway at Plymouth, so that’s probably why there has been a mention of Palace as well.
"Anyone could write those stories any day of the week without even speaking to the managers. There’s nothing in them as far as I know.
"I’m relatively young but I have an old-school mentality. I’m not going to kick down the door and ask for a new contract. I’m working and training hard and I’ve always enjoyed my time at Wolves. If I’m rewarded further down the line, that’s great.”
Securing current top scorer DJ Campbell on a permanent contract is likely to be Blues manager McCarthy's priority during January, however, QPR boss Harry Redknapp appears certain to take the 31-year-old back to Loftus Road at least for the short term when his loan is up on Saturday, which may see Town look elsewhere for another striker.
