Striker DJ Campbell says he wants his future sorted out as soon as possible. Town’s 10-goal top scorer returns to QPR today with Blues boss Mick McCarthy keen for him to return on a permanent basis and other clubs - reportedly Crystal Palace and Bolton - also interested in signing him.
Campbell said: "I want this resolved as soon as possible. I’m 31 years old, I haven’t got time for it to be dragging on.”
QPR boss Harry Redknapp is the man who will ultimately make the decision but Campbell, who is out of contract at the end of the season, is yet to speak to him: "I have not spoken to Harry myself, but the gaffer here has offered me a deal and told me what he wants to do — which is great for me.
"I have really enjoyed my time here and the fans have been great — as have the gaffer and the players. If the circumstances are right, I would definitely stay.”
The Londoner was disappointed that his 16-game loan spell ended in defeat to Brighton yesterday: "It was disappointing to lose the game and it’s not the way I wanted to go out.
"We’ve had a good festive period and to take seven points over the four games is a decent return, especially when you consider we only had seven points when Mick came in.
"Obviously I wanted to win and it would have been nice to get the three points and score a couple of goals in my last game, but it wasn’t to be.”
The striker added his thanks to Town supporters on Twitter: "Just want to say a quick thank you to all the Ipswich fans and everyone at Ipswich for making me feel so welcome. Whatever happens you've been brilliant."
