Manager Mick McCarthy says he’s hoping for a busy January transfer window as he looks to add to his squad. Striker DJ Campbell is his top target, while the Blues boss has previously said he wants to keep all of his remaining loanees.
McCarthy told the club site: "I’m hoping it will be a busy January and I’m certainly looking to get some reinforcements in.
"The lads we’ve got here are great and have done very well recently but I think we need more to sustain our league position.
"We’ve got a few lads coming to the end of their loan deals, with DJ having gone back to QPR.
"I’d like to keep DJ and I’ll be speaking to Harry but, at the same time, he’s a QPR player so any deal will be down to them first and foremost.”
If Campbell doesn't return to Portman Road McCarthy has said he will look for an alternative new striker, while a replacement for central defender Danny Higginbotham, who has joined Sheffield United, is another priority.
Meanwhile, fringe players such as Jason Scotland, who is interesting League One Preston, could move on.
