More Injuries! - Ipswich Town News

George Burley has even more injury worries ahead of tomorrow's Worthington Cup match at Newcastle. The Town side is already without Marcus Stewart, Ulrich Le Pen and Finidi George and now may have to do without a number of other players.

Mark Venus, Titus Bramble, Sixto Peralta and Martijn Reuser are all suffering knocks as Town prepare for the game at St James' Park.

New signing Marcus Bent was substituted on Sunday, but he was merely suffering from cramp.

George Burley said of the club's current state: "We are bottom and that is the reality of the situation. We got some breaks last year which we are not getting this season, There is a correlation between the amount of injuries and our position."

Of the penalty incident where Franck Queuedrue (not Gareth Southgate as we said earlier, it was at the other end, difficult to tell who it was) brought down Marcus Bent, the Town boss said: "Everyone in the stadium thought it was a penalty except the referee - but that's football. We have to accept these things, but sometimes it is tough to do that."
