Tranmere Full-Back Linked - Ipswich Town News

Town, Burnley, Sheffield Wednesday and clubs in France are all reported to be interested in Tranmere left-back Zoumana Bakayogo, who is out of contract with the League One leaders in the summer.

Ivory Coast U23 international Bakayogo began his career with hometown club Paris St Germain before joining Millwall in 2006, during which time he went on loan to Brighton but without playing a game due to injuries and international commitments.

After a spell back in France with UJA Alfortville, he moved to Tranmere in September 2009 and since then has made 95 starts and 30 sub appearances, scoring three goals.

With manager Mick McCarthy hopeful that recent signing Tyrone Mings will make an impression on the first team this season — he would have played in the FA Cup tomorrow if he hadn’t been cup-tied — and Aaron Cresswell - coincidentally a former Tranmere left-back himself - established as the first choice, another left-back doesn’t appear to be amongst the Blues’ priorities at present.
