Town Confirm McGoldrick Loan - Ipswich Town News

Town have confirmed that David McGoldrick has joined the Blues on loan from Nottingham Forest until the end of the season with a view to a permanent deal. In November, TWTD reported that Blues boss Mick McCarthy and assistant Terry Connor watched the striker in action for Coventry at Colchester.

McGoldrick, who has been handed the number 16 shirt at Town, spent the first half of the season on loan with the Sky Blues, scoring 17 goals in 24 starts and one sub appearance.

Asked about the 25-year-old as an alternative to DJ Campbell, who has returned to parent club QPR and will feature in the FA Cup for them tomorrow, last week, manager Mick McCarthy said: "He’s scored a few goals for Coventry on loan and we’ve been looking all over the place. But I wouldn’t tell you my targets, you know that.”

McGoldrick started his career with Notts County but moved to Southampton when still a 16-year-old, having already broken into the Magpies' first team.

The 6ft 1in tall pacey frontman, who spent tim eback at Meadow Lane and at Port Vale and Bournemouth on loan while a Saint, was on the losing side as Town won the 2005 FA Youth Cup.

He joined Forest in 2009 for £1 million, signing a four-year deal, and since then has been on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and then Coventry.

The Blues are also being linked with Hull City striker Aaron Mclean.
