McCarthy Delighted With Double Signing - Ipswich Town News

Manager Mick McCarthy says he’s delighted to have added strike pair David McGoldrick and Aaron Mclean to his squad. The duo have joined on loan until the end of the season but with McGoldrick certainly viewed as a signing for the longer term.

McCarthy told the club site: "David dropped down a level to play for Coventry on loan over the first half of the season and did really well.

"He was the leading scorer in League One with 16 goals [17 in all competitions], so we are signing a player at the top of his form.

"He’s a good player who we have been watching and it’s a deal that we are looking to lead to a permanent one.”

The 25-year-old is out of contract at Nottingham Forest this summer, while Mclean has another year remaining on his Hull deal after this season.

The Blues boss says the 29-year-old is someone he has been after for some while: "Aaron is also a good addition to the squad. I tried to sign him for Wolves a long time ago so I know about his qualities.

"He will bring pace, power and athleticism to the side and I’m delighted that we have managed to get both of them.”

Town completed the paperwork for both deals close to the noon deadline for the FA Cup trip to Aston Villa and they are waiting to hear confirmation whether clearance has been granted for the pair to feature tomorrow.
