Town Linked With Wellens Move - Ipswich Town News
Town boss Mick McCarthy wants to bring Leicester midfielder Richie Wellens back to Portman Road, according to one of this morning’s tabloids. The 32-year-old made seven appearances during a month-long spell at Portman Road during October and November.
Asked whether there was a chance of Wellens returning to Town on Thursday, McCarthy said: "Well, I need to get some players in, we’re talking about loads of them.
"We’ve been sat in there with [scouts] Dave Bowman, Taff and Steve McCall and we’re going through a list of names as long as my arm. I won’t talk about individual players who are at other people’s clubs.”
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace are again reported to be in the chase for DJ Campbell. Manager Ian Holloway was the 31-year-old’s boss at Blackpool and is said to be at the front of the queue should QPR allow the ex-Blues loanee to move on.
Town boss Mick McCarthy confirmed after yesterday’s game that he is still looking to sign Town’s 10-goal top scorer, despite having added David McGoldrick and Aaron Mclean to his squad this week.
