Reo-Coker Leaves Town - Ipswich Town News
Manager Mick McCarthy has revealed that midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker has left the club at the end of his short-term contract. The former Wimbledon, West Ham, Aston Villa and Bolton man wanted a longer contract than the Blues were prepared to offer.
McCarthy left the 28-year-old out of the squad for today’s game and confirmed that he had left the club: "He’s not staying. I spoke to Nigel yesterday. Fair play to him he came in suited and booted and ready to go with the team."
The Town boss says the Blues were only prepared to offer terms to the end of the season with the player wanting a deal beyond that: "He wants a longer term contract, which I understand, I think he might have some other offers.
"I said fine, if that's the case, go home and I'll go with the other lads that we've got."
McCarthy says he was happy with Reo-Coker while he was at the club: "He’s been great, he’s been great around the place."
