U21s in Action at Charlton - Ipswich Town News

Recent signing Tyrone Mings is in what’s likely to be a strong Town U21 side in action against Charlton at their Sparrows Lane training ground this afternoon (KO 1pm). The Addicks have confirmed that the game will go ahead despite the overnight snow in some areas.

Also likely to be involved are Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, who was left out of the 18 at Cardiff on Saturday, Elliott Hewitt, Josh Carson and Jack Ainsley.

Last week, a very young Blues second string side lost 2-1 at Felixstowe and Walton in the Suffolk Premier Cup, but manager Mick McCarthy was pleased with their performance: "I thought our lads played really well in a difficult game for them. They were all kids, all babies, 16, 17, 18 most of them.

"As they lined up, both Terry Connor and myself said that corner kicks and freekicks were going to be a problem as there was only Tyrone Mings that was anywhere near as big as their back four.

"And that’s how it turned out to be. But I thought our lads really stuck at it and I was pleased with them.”
