Blackburn Set to Recall Orr - Ipswich Town News

Blackburn Rovers will recall right-back Bradley Orr from Town at the end of his current spell on January 26th, according to reports in Lancashire. Rovers had previously agreed to extend the 30-year-old’s stay until the end of the season.

Since that agreement was made, Michael Appleton has taken over as manager at Ewood Park and the former Blackpool and Portsmouth boss is likely to want to assess the players currently at his new club.

Blackburn aren't able to recall the Liverpudlian from his current spell but he could go back to his parent club after the game against his former side Bristol City at Ashton Gate a week on Saturday.

If Orr does return, Blues boss Mick McCarthy could renew his interest in his former Wolves right-back Ronald Zubar, who was strongly linked with a move to Portman Road before Christmas.

However, the 27-year-old would appear to be part of new Molineux manager Dean Saunders’s plans, having started their 1-1 draw with Blackburn at the weekend. Wolves defender Richard Stearman - primarily a centre-half but also capable of playing at right-back - and striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake also continue to be linked with the Blues.

Town are believed to be unwilling to pay the £1.8 million Wolves want for Stearman, while Ebanks-Blake seems a less likely target after the additions of David McGoldrick, Aaron Mclean and Frank Nouble.

Meanwhile, Town boss Mick McCarthy was at the League Managers' Association's European Managers and Coaches Forum at St George’s Park, Burton yesterday.
