Loach in the Pink - Ipswich Town News

Blues keeper Scott Loach will wear pink gloves and boots for the next month in order to raise breast cancer awareness.

Loach told the club site: "I will be wearing pink boots and gloves for the next month as a way of raising awareness for breast cancer.

"My Mum had breast cancer and she really suffered during that time, so I like to raise awareness of it. Thankfully she’s okay now but obviously it’s a subject very close to my heart.

"I’ve done something every year ever since and I wanted to do something a little bit different this year, so that’s how I came up with the idea of the pink boots and gloves.

"In the past I’ve held parties and charity games but this year I wanted to take the pink onto the pitch and I settled on the idea of pink gloves and pink boots.”

Loach, 24, is also trying raise cash for the charity Against Breast Cancer via a Just Giving page: "Every little bit helps — whether it’s £1 or £100 — and I’m truly grateful as anything we can raise is a positive.

"I’ve set up a Just Giving page for people to donate, which has been up and running for a day or two now and the response has been great so far. The fans are getting involved, which is great, and we just need to get the word out there now.

"All the lads are on board with it too and they will all be contributing, which is really good of them as they know it’s for a good cause.

"Arran Lee-Barrett will also be wearing pink gloves and will have the bottoms of his Nike boots sprayed pink, which is in aid of breast cancer too.”
