Speaking two weeks ago, manager Mick McCarthy confirmed that Scotland’s spell with the Blues was coming to an end: "Jason is likely to be going somewhere. He’s been fabulous, Jason, he’s such a lovely character and a nice man, he’s been great around the place.
"But we’re going younger and hungrier, I guess, and unfortunately Jason’s missing out. But he understands and he’d like to go and play football somewhere in the twilight of his career.”
Doncaster Rovers, Wolves and Saturday’s opponents Barnsley are amongst the clubs understood to be interested in signing the ex-Swansea, St Johnstone and Dundee United man, while Brighton and Preston were also previously eyeing his situation.
