Wigan Linked With Move for Zubar - Ipswich Town News
Premier League Wigan have been linked with a loan move for Wolves right-back Ronald Zubar, who was strongly tipped to be joining the Blues before Christmas. The 27-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season, was brought to Molineux by Town manager Mick McCarthy.
The Frenchman was out of favour under previous Wolves boss Ståle Solbakken but has come back into the fold since Dean Saunders took over as manager, starting the last two games.
Latics boss Roberto Martinez, who has also been mentioned in connection with Liverpool's Sebastian Coates and former Rangers man Madjid Bougherra, confirmed that he is looking for a defender with experience of playing in England as the Lancashire side attempt their annual escape from the drop: "It is important we bring a defender in, but I don't think we will be looking at the Spanish market this time.
"It is difficult for a foreign player to arrive in January and make an impact, but we do need someone."
A right-back is likely to be near the top of Blues boss McCarthy’s wish-list with new Blackburn manager Michael Appleton appearing certain to recall Bradley Orr when his three-month spell at Portman Road is up next Saturday.
