Kisnorbo Set to Stay and Henderson Could Return - Ipswich Town News
Blues boss Mick McCarthy has revealed that Town are in talks with Leeds United regarding the extension of Patrick Kisnorbo’s loan spell and that West Ham keeper Stephen Henderson may return to Portman Road. Australian centre-half Kisnorbo’s spell with the Blues is up on January 29th.
McCarthy said: "We’re talking to Leeds, that was the deal - we’d have a look at him and we’d extend it if we wanted to, and I do want to.”
The Town manager — who targeted Nottingham Forest’s Lee Camp before his move to Norwich earlier in the week — confirmed that another goalkeeper is very much on his January wish-list.
That keeper could be Irishman Stephen Henderson, whose previous loan with the Blues recently came to an end, but ideally he’d prefer to sign someone who wasn’t subject to a 24-hour recall clause.
"Hendo’s still an option but it would have to be a 24-hour recall and that just leaves us a bit exposed,” McCarthy said.
"I’ve spoken to Sam [Allardyce] and we’re both open to that if that is the best we can both do. I don’t mean best [in a disparaging way] because he’s a good keeper, Hendo. If the best we can do is with a 24-hour recall, then we’ll do it.”
