Former Blue Kieron Dyer was training with the Town squad yesterday but manager Mick McCarthy says he has had no discussions with the ex-England man about a third spell at Portman Road. Dyer was released by QPR at the beginning of the month and is understood to be interesting a number of clubs at home and abroad.
Speaking at yesterday’s pre-match press conference, McCarthy confirmed that Dyer, who trained with the Blues U18s last week, had joined in with the senior squad: "He’s training with us today. "
But the Town boss played down the chances of the free agent joining the club, although without completely dismissing the possibility: "I’ve never had any discussions with him about that. He’s having discussions with other people, apparently.”
He added: "He started here and he’s come back, I don’t know if he still lives around here but he asked me if he could train.”
