Scotland Training With Notts County - Ipswich Town News

Former Blue Jason Scotland is training with League One Notts County while he looks for a new club, his Town contract having been settled at the weekend. Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave Jones has refused to confirm or deny his interest in the 33-year-old.

Yesterday, Coventry boss Mark Robins ruled out a move for Scotland after discussions had taken place with the Sky Blues.

Owls manager Jones - who sent ex-Town youngster Caolan Lavery out on loan to Southend United earlier this week - was questioned about the strikers he is targeting but wouldn’t be drawn on their identities: "One player we spoke to has gone to another Championship club; he got paid up [by his club], and it was done.”

That player is unlikely to be Scotland as the ex-Trinidad and Tobago international is yet to find a new club but he may well be on their list of potential recruits. Doncaster, Wolves, Barnsley, Brighton and Preston have also shown interest in Scotland since he fell out of favour at Portman Road.

Elsewhere, Blues striker Michael Chopra will learn the outcome of his British Horseracing Authority hearing into alleged race-fixing at around noon today.

Meanwhile, Luton Town have trained in the Blues’ Playford Road dome for the last couple of days as they prepare for their FA Cup fourth round tie at Norwich on Saturday.

Hatters boss Paul Buckle says Blues manager Mick McCarthy has helped him out before in similar circumstances: "I know Mick and he has been good to me in the past. We trained at Wolves once when he was manager there.

"It was a late shout but they have helped us out and we really needed this preparation as we are playing a Premier League side.”
