Henderson's Blackburn Move Off - Ipswich Town News

The swap deal which would see former Blues loan keeper Stephen Henderson move from West Ham to Blackburn and ex-England man Paul Robinson go in the other direction is off - as things stand at present. Town boss Mick McCarthy is keen to add another keeper to his squad and last week said he could look to bring Henderson back to Portman Road for a second loan spell.

The Henderson-Robinson swap move is believed to have broken down as Blackburn have been unable to come to an agreement regarding the settlement of the remaining years of Robinson’s contract.

The likelihood of some deadline day business involving Town has reportedly increased this afternoon and if Henderson’s proposed move to Blackburn is now definitely over, then the Irishman could well return to Portman Road. However, these apparently dead moves do have a habit of being resuscitated on deadline day.

Town won’t necessarily be in a hurry to do deals today with the loan window opening next week and 93-day ‘emergency’ loans stretching until the end of the season on May 4th.

Former Blue Kelvin Davis, who is currently out of favour at Southampton, is believed to be viewed as a possible alternative to Henderson if the Irishman does move elsewhere.

Meanwhile, midfielder Josh Carson was spotted in town within the last hour, so currently wouldn’t appear to be on the verge of moving out on loan anywhere. The Northern Irishman spent two days training with Northampton Town last week.

Striker Nathan Ellington, who recently completed a loan spell at Scunthorpe, has also been spotted still in Ipswich.

Elsewhere, former Blues loanee Bilel Mohsni is training with Stevenage, although no deal has yet been done with Southend.
