Sheepshanks on Italian Trip - Ipswich Town News

Town chairman David Sheepshanks has commented on the extra strictness supporters are likely to experience when they travel to Milan next week. Yesterday the police issued warnings ahead of the UEFA Cup game next Thursday.

David Sheepshanks said, "It is absolutely vital that all of our fans behave well in Milan. I hope you all have the time of your lives but please remember that you are carrying the good name of Ipswich Town Football Club and that of English football into Italy. I must also warn you that while club Secretary David Rose and our local police have done their level best to inform the Italian authorities of the good reputation of our supporters, you can nevertheless expect Italian police to be far more strict and dogmatic in the way that they operate. So please, support the team to the hilt, have a great time but keep it all under control and let's try to bring home another big scalp."

Amongst the items banned are coins, bottles, cans, flag poles, binoculars, radios, spray bottles, drinks glasses, spiked belts, crash helmets, umbrellas, syringes, tools, army knives, fireworks and explosives.
