Bowden Named Essex Chief - Ipswich Town News

Former Town chief executive Derek Bowden has been appointed to the same role at Essex Cricket. Bowden was at Portman Road from 2002 until 2009, helping to steer the club through the financial difficulties which followed relegation from the Premier League.

Bowden, who more recently has been working as the CEO of the Union of UEA students, said: "I’m really looking forward to joining the team at Essex and working with them to create the success that Essex Cricket deserves.”

Nigel Hilliard, chairman of Essex Cricket, added: "Derek has a wealth of experience in the commercial and sporting world, which will be of great benefit to the club at a time when we are embarking on a major redevelopment of The Essex County Ground. Once completed, the stadium will be a fitting centrepiece to the new City of Chelmsford.”

Elsewhere, ex-Blues striker Chris Kiwomya has been named the caretaker-manager at Notts County in the wake of Keith Curle's sacking.

Kiwomya's one-time team-mate at Portman Road, Lee Norfolk has taken up the same role at Leiston FC after Mark Morsley's resignation on Friday.
