Smith in Team of the Week - Ipswich Town News

Centre-half Tommy Smith has been named in this week’s Football League Championship Team of the Week after his two-goal display in the Blues’ 4-0 victory over Middlesbrough at Portman Road on Saturday. Several other players with Town connections, including Smith’s close friend Jordan Rhodes, are also named in the select XI.

Rhodes, who is set to face his old club and Smith for the first time when the Blues travel to Blackburn next Saturday, scored twice as Rovers beat Bristol City 2-0.

Right-back Bradley Orr, who is also set to come up against Town next week having recently returned to Ewood Park, is also named, as is another ex-loanee David Stockdale, who is now with Hull for another temporary spell.

Derby central defender Richard Keogh is a former Town academy schoolboy and ballboy.

Jaden Philogene scored twice and George Hirst once as Town beat Aberdeen 3-1 in their friendly at Pittodrie. Philogene stroked home from close range after good work from Sammie Szmodics and Hirst on 28, then Hirst added a second with a predatory rebound 10 minutes later, before Philogene netted the third just before the hour with Aberdeen pulling one back in the 79th minute remaining and the Blues having replaced their entire starting XI.
