McCarthy Delighted With January Business - Ipswich Town News

Boss Mick McCarthy says he’s delighted with Town’s January transfer window business but doesn’t expect any further additions to come in on loan. From today, Football League clubs are able to take players on 93-day ‘emergency’ loans.

McCarthy said: "I was delighted with what we did in the window. Patrick Kisnorbo gives us real sensible protection [at the back]. I think Richard Stearman was excellent last week, I’m delighted with the business we did there.

"Then there’s David McGoldrick and Aaron Mclean, Anthony Wordsworth has trained with us and I like him. And Frank Nouble, of course. I was delighted with the stuff we did in the window.”

The last of the January signings was Stephen Henderson, who is set to return to the side at Blackburn on Saturday with Scott Loach out with a sprained thumb: "He’s still got the 24-hour recall, which wasn’t what we wanted, but Sam [Allardyce] was happy for him to come back and it’s great having him here, now even more so.”

The Blues boss expects that to be the extent of his incoming business until the summer: "We’ve got five [domestic] loans and we can’t really take any more because we can only have five on the teamsheet.

"So, unless somebody gets injured, or somebody has to go back, then there won’t be anybody.”

McCarthy isn’t ruling out fringe players such as Josh Carson moving out on loan if clubs are interested and plan to play them regularly: "If they get games, it’s better for them to play.”
