The telephone lines between Ipswich and Blackburn have been busy this week in the build-up to Saturday’s fixture at Ewood Park.
Town left-back Aaron Cresswell confirmed he and former team-mate Bradley Orr, a fellow Scouser who played 13 games on loan at Portman Road before returning last week to reclaim his Rovers first-team place, have been engaged in conversation over the last few days.
Cresswell said: "I’ve been chatting to Bradley and he’s been saying ‘Just calm down and don’t be doing any of that overlapping’.”
With Blackburn completing a loan deal for DJ Campbell — another player with recent Ipswich connections — there will be a second familiar face lining up against Cresswell & Co.
He added: "It will be great to come up against them both but hopefully we will upset them and get the three points. Once you cross that white line there is no such thing as friends or anything like that.
"You might know their strengths and weaknesses so you try to work for and against that. DJ and Bradley are two fantastic players but the only thing on our minds will be to get the three points.
"Bradley did really well in his time here and as for DJ, he’s not at QPR in the Premiership for no reason. They are in the top flight of English football and DJ’s record when he came down here on loan says it all I suppose.
"He scored 10 goals in, what was it, 17 games? He will want to get off to a good start at Blackburn but from our point of view I hope he doesn’t even get on the pitch — and if he does I definitely don’t want to see him score against us.”
