Ellington Training With Crewe - Ipswich Town News
Former Blue Nathan Ellington is training with League One Crewe Alexandra having had his contract with Town settled by mutual consent at the end of last month. The former Wigan, West Brom and Watford man made only three starts — just one in the league — and 16 sub appearances during 18 months at Portman Road.
Crewe manager Steve Davis told Thisisstaffordshire.co.uk that the 31-year-old is being given the chance to prove himself: "Nathan lives in Manchester and he's coming down to work with us to get himself fit and going.
"He's a free agent so we will have a look at that situation. He's played at the top level and he's been a thorn in many defences' sides.
"If we can improve the team we will do it. A lot of players don't peak until their 30s, I was playing my best football at 32. We've not promised him anything, just get in the place to train and we will see how it goes."
