Luke Chambers believes Town’s recent record of just one win in seven outings is not a true reflection of the team’s displays since the turn of the year.
Having ended 2012 on a high note, with successive away wins at Charlton and Wolves, their recent run has seen them slip to within one point of the Championship drop zone.
Chambers said: "Obviously, the points tally hasn’t been what we would have wanted it to be, but performance-wise I think we’ve been pretty happy with the way things have gone.
"It’s just that the results haven’t mirrored what we feel we have deserved. We just need to focus on why we’ve conceded goals and why we’re not picking up the points. We’re doing that every day in training.
"The gaffer’s not changed anything really. We know what brings success and what got us on a decent run when the gaffer first came in so we’re not panicking by any means. We’re just concentrating on the game on Saturday.”
Blackpool are the visitors to Portman Road and despite last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Blackburn there will be no complaints if Town can make it two wins on the trot in front of their own fans.
Chambers added: "I wouldn’t say anything has gone wrong but we’ve conceded some sloppy goals. You can see that when things come together for us we end up beating a team like Middlesbrough 4-0.
"I think there is such a small margin for error in games in the Championship — anything can happen at any given moment.
"It seems at the minute that we are giving teams two or three chances in a game and they are managing to score from one or two of them. On the flip side of things, we’re not taking our chances as well as we would like and that seems to be coming back to bite us a little bit.”
Town, along with Huddersfield, remain bottom of the Championship’s scoring chart with 33 goals in 31 league games and Chambers does not believe the blame lies with the forwards.
He said: "We can’t just single out the strikers. I think it’s everyone — we need goals from all over the team. That’s been a theme from the start of the season. We need goals from every department.
"Thankfully Tommy [Smith] and I have managed to come up with a few lately. We’re just hoping to add to the team as we can. We definitely need goals from our midfield and the strikers up front are paid to score goals. It’s not singling anyone out — we just need to put the ball in the back of the net.”
