Ex-Blues midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker has agreed to join MLS side the Vancouver Whitecaps, having been in talks since the weekend. The 28-year-old left Portman Road after failing to agree new terms at the end of his three-month deal in January.
The former England U21 man has long been mentioned in connection with a move to North American with his wife hailing from New York. The New York Red Bulls and Portland Timbers were both previously linked.
"I am delighted, it will be a new experience and I can't wait,” Reo-Coker told Sky Sports.
"I am looking forward to the challenge. The contract is for four years, it is something new, exciting and a change of environment and something I am looking forward to.”
Former Blue, Jaime Peters, was recently on trial with the Whitecaps but failed to win a contract.
Elsewhere, another ex-Town midfielder Tommy Miller has been temporarily put in joint-charge of first team affairs at his current club Swindon along with defender Darren Ward in the wake of Paolo Di Canio’s recent resignation. The 34-year-old joined the Robins on a free transfer from Huddersfield in the summer.
