Town are keeping an eye on Histon youngsters Nick Freeman and Matty Waters, according to reports in Cambridgeshire. Winger Freeman, 17, has spent the week on trial with Norwich City with the Stutes waiting to discover whether the Canaries want to sign him.
Freeman and striker Waters, 18, have played for the Blue Square Bet North side’s U18s this season but are already regulars in their senior squad and attracting interest from clubs much further up the pyramid.
Stutes assistant boss Brian Page told the Cambridge News that they are waiting to hear whether Norwich want to sign Freeman and loan him back to them for the rest of the season: "If he went there it would be up to them.
"If they said, ‘He can still play for you for the rest of the season’, then we’d snap their hand off, of course.”
The Blues are understood to want to take the pair on trial if the wideman doesn’t join the Canaries.
Town youngster Byron Lawrence, who made his debut for the first team at Doncaster on the final day of last season, is a former Histon youth player having joined the Blues as a schoolboy.
