Ainsley Joins Chelmsford - Ipswich Town News

Right-back Jack Ainsley has joined Blue Square Bet South side Chelmsford City on a month's loan. Earlier this month, left-back Joe Whight also made a loan move to the Clarets.

Chelmsford manager and ex-Town midfielder Glenn Pennyfather says the deal is a "a real coup" for the Essex side, adding: "Jack’s played in the Championship as recently as this season and he’s a quality player without a doubt.

"I’m delighted Ipswich have allowed us to take him on loan so he can get some games.”

The 22-year-old, whose Town contract is up in the summer, recently spent two spells training with Preston North End and was also on trial at Bury.

The Felixstowe-born defender, who won England U17 caps as a striker when in the Town academy, was close to joining Capital One Cup finalists Bradford earlier in the season but the move was halted when the change of manager took place at Portman Road with new boss Mick McCarthy keen to look at all the players at his disposal.

Ainsley made his only league start for the Blues against Huddersfield in August and other than that has made only two sub appearances this season, one in the Capital One Cup.

In total, he has made five starts and three sub appearances for the club where both his father George and brother Stuart - a former Chelmsford player - were previously youth players.

After coming through the ranks of the Town academy, he made his senior debut in the 2009/10 season and has also spent time on loan with Histon and Rushden and Diamonds.

Ainsley, who will be at the Melbourne Stadium until March 25th, looks set to make his debut in tonight's game at Bromley, Whight having made his Clarets bow in the 1-0 home victory over Sutton on Saturday.
