Hendo: More of the Same at Forest - Ipswich Town News

Town goalkeeper Stephen Henderson would like nothing more than to follow up Saturday’s welcome 1-0 home win over Leicester with a same-again display at Nottingham Forest tonight.

The on-loan West Ham keeper knows the trip to face in-form Forest — they have just clocked up a hat-trick of successive league wins — presents another massive challenge.

Henderson, 24, said: "The fact that they are the form team in the league at the minute tells you how difficult a task we face. But having said that, we are not too far behind them ourselves in terms of recent form.”

Both teams have plenty to play for — Forest to maintain their bid to gatecrash the play-offs and Town, currently six points clear of the relegation places, to extend that gap.

Henderson looked back at the weekend success over Leicester and added: "I think it’s our biggest win of the season so far. But obviously we’re nowhere near being out of the woods yet.

"Considering what happened in the game at Leicester, when we went down 6-0, we had a lot of things to prove. Luckily we got the three points and a clean sheet, which was the most important thing.

"That defeat at their place really hurt me personally and it was the same for all the lads. But not even for a second did I think we would lose the game on Saturday because we were in control.

"I know they had chances but not really clear-cut — maybe towards the end — and it was a great win so I’m very happy.

"The one thing we didn’t want was to go into the game fearing Leicester. We got in their faces from the first minute and I felt comfortable the whole game.

"I think it will be the same at Forest because we can’t sit back. When we do that is when we struggle because it allows teams to play their game. We need to be full of energy and ready to go again.”
