Cundy's Wife in Health Scare - Ipswich Town News

Lizzie Cundy, wife of former Town defender Jason Cundy, had a health scare last week when she was rushed to hospital with meningitis. Fortunately it was a less dangerous variant of the illness and she is now resting at home.

Jason Cundy himself recovered from testicular cancer while a Town player in 1997. He left the Blues in the summer of 1999 and joined Portsmouth before retiring with a knee problem.

Lizzie Cundy developed symptoms of the disease last Thursday with an increasingly bad headache eventually meaning she couldn't move her neck. She was also having difficulty looking into light and lifting her feet.

After tests she was diagnosed with the viral form of meningitis and not the potentially fatal meningococcal strain.

Lizzie Cundy has suffered with meningitis before her husband recalls: "Lizzie was taken ill with viral meningitis two weeks before we were married. Having been through it before we know it is very treatable and she will soon be back on her feet. Her head is still thumping and her neck is sore but she is on the road to recovery. We're definitely together in sickness and in health I think I'm doing a good job of looking after Lizzie but you would really have to ask her."

Lizzie Cundy is a bit of a star in her own right after having a part in the Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies. TWTD wishes her a swift recovery.
